Tucked away overlooking a beautiful meadow mid-way between Nantwich and Whitchurch at the edge of the Cheshire/Shropshire border, Clayways Pottery Studio is somewhere you can slow down, switch off, and enjoy making something gorgeous with clay.
Whether you’re completely new to pottery or you’ve had a go before, you’ll find a warm welcome here. There’s no pressure, no rush, and definitely no expectation to be “good” at it. It's suitable for complete beginners and more advanced potters. We give you the time, space, and plenty of encouragement to enjoy the process.
Our studio is small and friendly, with just a handful of people in each session, so it never feels busy or overwhelming. You’ll have access to everything you need, along with gentle guidance from experienced potters who are always happy to help (or leave you to it if you’re in the flow).

Unlike large, busy studios, Clayways offers small group pottery workshops where you have the time, space and encouragement to develop at your own pace; supported by super-friendly expert tutors at all times.
Our experienced team is always on hand to offer guidance when you need it, whilst giving you the freedom to experiment, explore and enjoy the creative process. We're also here to have fun and make friends too! :)

Wheel Throwing Tuition
Our small session wheel-throwing tuition is fantastic if you want to improve your skills. We have many people joining us from other studios when they want to start throwing larger pots or making pots of the sames shape, style and size. Our expert tuition can guide you from beginner to more advanced throwers.

Pottery Commissions
Our pottery commissions made near Nantwich, Whitchurch and Market Drayton are for customers who need a ceramic piece that goes beyond a standard product or simple personalisation. Challenge us to make us something truly unique and special and we can post anywhere in the world.
Studio Flexi-Passes
If you love pottery and want to come regularly you can buy a Flexi-pass. This gives you the best rates for studio time and you can spend time with other potters and students and share ideas, support each other and build your making skills with expert tutors always on hand to help.
Children and SEN
We support special education needs, home schooling and child sessions. Just get in touch at any time and we can talk through what you need to support your child and build solutions around them. Two of our tutors are ex-teachers and one has SEN expertise so we understand some of the needs that they might have a love helping them to discover clay making too.

Having tried wheel throwing without any success in other studios I was a little doubtful I'd get the better of it. An afternoon with Tracy in her lovely studio and I actually got it! Absolutely delighted. Fab teacher, lovely venue and such fun.
