If you’re ready to immerse yourself in pottery, this intensive three-day course offers the fastest way to build confidence, develop practical skills and gain a real understanding of ceramics.
Whether you’re a complete beginner with a passion to learn, a hobby potter looking to accelerate your progress or someone considering a future in ceramics, this course provides three full days of expert tuition in a relaxed, friendly studio environment.
With a maximum of just two students on each course, you’ll receive an exceptional level of individual coaching and leave with skills that would normally take months of weekly classes to develop.
Over three consecutive days you’ll spend around 24 hours immersed in clay, giving your hands time to develop the muscle memory that is so important in pottery.
You’ll work through every stage of the ceramic process, learning not just how to make pottery, but why each technique matters.
Throughout the course you’ll explore:
Every course is adapted to your experience, so whether you’re starting from scratch or already have some pottery knowledge, we’ll help you make the most of every hour.
Because we limit each course to just two students, you’ll enjoy almost continuous personal tuition from your tutor.
We’ll help you refine:
You’ll receive constructive feedback throughout the course, helping you make rapid improvements with every piece you create.
This course is ideal if you:
Many students leave with the confidence to continue making at home, join a pottery studio or even begin selling their own ceramics.
Your intensive course includes:
Lunch and comfort breaks are taken at your own pace, giving you time to relax before returning to the studio.
Once you’ve booked, we’ll contact you personally to arrange suitable dates.
Courses are usually held over three consecutive days, typically Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, although occasional weekend intensive courses are available throughout the year.
We can usually offer course dates within two to three weeks of booking, subject to studio availability.
This isn’t a production-line pottery course.
It’s an opportunity to spend three inspiring days learning alongside experienced potters in a welcoming garden studio where questions are encouraged, creativity is celebrated and tuition is genuinely personal.
Whether your ambition is to enjoy a lifelong hobby, create beautiful handmade gifts or build the foundations of a ceramics business, we’ll help you leave with the skills and confidence to make it happen.
Few experiences are as rewarding as creating something beautiful with your own hands.
Our Three-Day Intensive Pottery Course gives you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to continue your pottery journey long after the course has finished.
We’d love to welcome you to the Clayways studio and help you discover just how far three inspiring days can take you.

Most of our pieces can be personalised with names, dates, handwritten messages, or children’s drawings. You can upload your document on the order form or if you have problems with this, once you’ve placed your order, simply email us the details (and any photos of handwriting) to hello@clayways.co.uk using your full name as the subject line. For the clearest results, please send handwriting on plain white paper using a dark pen. If you’d like to chat through your ideas before ordering, we’re always happy to help — just send us a message.
Every piece is handmade to order in our Cheshire pottery studio, so please allow four weeks for us to create your item plus delivery time. We handcraft, personalise, glaze, and kiln-fire each piece individually — that’s what makes it unique. If you need something for a specific date or occasion, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help.
We offer free shipping in the UK on all orders over £30. All items are carefully packaged and shipped via a tracked parcel delivery service for peace of mind. Your finished piece will be securely wrapped to ensure it arrives safely. We have flat rate delivery costs for the rest of the world and these are shared at the point of order.Â
Most of our ceramics are available in a range of soft, natural glaze colours — see the options on each product page for what’s currently available. Many personalised items can also be finished with a hand-painted gold, silver, or copper gilt edge for an extra touch of elegance. If you have a specific colour in mind for a bespoke order, just ask — we’d love to help.
Every piece of pottery at Clayways is individually handmade and glazed, so no two are ever exactly the same. The photographs on our website are examples of previous work, and your finished piece may vary slightly in colour, pattern, and glaze effects. That’s part of the beauty of handmade ceramics — your piece is completely unique.

"Had an absolute blast this morning playing with clay at ClayWays with Tracey. We went as a group of four and after abit of time gathering some inspiration we all got to work. It was such a relaxing time. Chatting, listening to music and creating our pieces. Tracey was so knowledgeable and patient, giving tips and tricks were needed while also letting our creative juices flow and we all managed to make some really lovely pieces. We can't wait go back again to finish them off with paint and glaze. I would fully recommend ClayWays to my friends and family"
